New Hampshire Department of Energy Submits Application for Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program

N.H. Department of Energy Press Release

Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Energy (NH DOE) announced today that they have submitted a funding application for the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program. New Hampshire is seeking over $34 million in funding to reduce the cost of efficient electric appliances, with a particular focus on low-income households. The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program is part of the Home Energy Rebates that are managed by the United States Department of Energy.

New Hampshire submitted its application for the program on March 22nd, the first state in New England to do so. New Hampshire is among 12 states that have submitted applications for Home Energy Rebates so far.

“The New Hampshire Department of Energy has prioritized the pursuit of federal funding that will provide benefits to Granite Staters, especially our low-income consumers,” said New Hampshire Department of Energy Commissioner Jared Chicoine. “New Hampshire is excited to be among some of the nation’s earliest applicants to the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program. We hope to keep momentum as we move through application approval and program implementation so that funding can be made available to the people of New Hampshire.”

“Our team at the New Hampshire Department of Energy has been working diligently on our application for this funding opportunity,” said NH DOE Policy and Programs Division Director Josh Elliott. “We have appreciated the productive dialogue with US DOE as this application has been developed and look forward to continuing that dialogue as it is reviewed, approved, and implemented. We will implement an effective program that will provide real cost and energy savings to New Hampshire consumers, with an emphasis on low-income households.”

What’s next?
The US Department of Energy will review New Hampshire’s application to ensure compliance with federal law, regulations, and guidelines. After approval is granted and funding is awarded, New Hampshire will need to operationalize the approved program before it can launch and begin to accept applications from Granite Staters. It is important to note that rebates will only be available for projects initiated by consumers after NH DOE has opened the program. NH DOE will provide updates when programs are expected to open, but that is not possible at this time.
